Blood Libels, Condemnation and More: The Albums Behind the Designs

· The Band

Most of our designs come straight from Antaeus records, songs and shows. Here's which design belongs to what, and what the Latin and French on them means.

Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan (2000)

The first album is a set of re-recorded demo songs. Its title runs in blackletter on the Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan design, and in tall distressed capitals on the back of the Web Logo Cut Your Flesh piece.

Blood Libels (2006)

The third album came out on Norma Evangelium Diaboli. The Blood Libels design shows two kneeling winged figures under the web logo. Words as Weapons, the fifth song on the album, has its own design with the title on the back. In the booklet, the opening song "Rot" is titled Everything Great Is Built Upon Sorrow, the line printed around the logo on our Maryland Deathfest 2013 design.

Condemnation (2016)

The fourth album came ten years after Blood Libels. The Condemnation design fuses a crucified figure with the web logo, its cross ending in a curved blade.

What do the slogans mean?

I Hope You Die has been an Antaeus shirt slogan for years. We have it twice: in huge type on the I Hope You Die Evangelium Warchangel design, and in blackletter over a pentagram. Evangelium, on the back of the first, is Latin for "gospel".

Which shows are on the shirts?

Antaeus played Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore in 2013, and the Maryland Deathfest 2013 design names it. The Festival N'Rock 1996 design is an old flyer in French: 21ème Festival N'Rock, St Denis, Amphi X, 2 novembre 1996 means "21st Festival N'Rock, Saint-Denis, Amphi X, 2 November 1996".
